Love Figures

What is Love?
Love was but a paradox
To my young mind
Something unexplainable.
Mama sighed dreamily and said,
"Well, I love Dad,
and he loves me!"

What is Love?
I thought it was because they
worked well together, I guessed,
"Like I love chocolate milk?"
Mama just laughed
And replied, "That’s a different
kind of Love."

What is Love?
So there was more than one
Type of Love –
Perhaps thousands!
I heard someone say that Love,
Was an irresistible feeling,
That you could not escape.

What is Love?
I’ve grown up since then,
I’ve been through Love,
But I wish I never had.
Love is something I regret,
For Love is fake,
And now I am all alone.
