The door opened and the man walked out calmly, his back turned to the blaze behind him.
Inside, two dark silhouettes stood in each other’s embrace, surrounded by flames. There had been fear, but now they stood still, gazing calmly into each other’s eyes.
There was silence. The flames spread noiselessly.
This the man saw through the window. He heard no screams even as the flames enveloped the two figures.
Then, without turning back, the man left calmly, though with hatred consuming him; his heart was void of regret, as the orange flames licked the cabin.
